Morgan, Sir Henry
(1635, Llanrhymney, Glamorgan, Gales–25 ago. 1688, probablemente Lawrencefield, Jamaica).

Bucanero galés. En la segunda de las guerras anglo-holandesas, comandó a los bucaneros contra las colonias holandesas en el Caribe. Después de capturar Puerto Príncipe en Cuba y saquear la ciudad de Portobelo, en 1670 partió con 36 naves y 2.000 bucaneros a capturar la ciudad de Panamá, importante colonia española; derrotó a una fuerza española numerosa y saqueó y quemó la ciudad. En el viaje de regreso, abandonó a sus subalternos y tomó la mayor parte del botín. En 1674 fue nombrado caballero y enviado a Jamaica como vicegobernador. Un relato exagerado de sus hazañas creó su reputación popular de pirata sanguinario.
